Welcome to Groopy
Groopy is the biggest cycling community in Israel , with about 30,000 members.
Members are mainly cross country, free ride ,down hill and road riders.
Registration to Groopy is free and members can access all the options which the site provides .
Groopy's site serves several purposes:
1) Cycling trips: Trips are posted and open for members to sign up.
Most are organized and led by Groopy members and are free of charge, while a small number are advertised by commercial groups and are charged.
Each trip is rated according to distance and level of difficulty .
2) Forums for exchange of useful information (technical, consumer issues, etc) and social purposes (fun, jokes).
3) Groopy Shop: group purchases of biking accessories at reduced rates.
4) Listings for purchase/sale of used bicycles and accessories.
5) Galleries for uploading photos
6) Recommended bike trails and links to other sites.
Through this English link we hope to open a dialogue with cyclists from all over the world and exchange information and assistance.

Israel provides a vast variety of climates and landscapes, allowing one to bike in the deserts, mountains, plains, forests or along the sea coast.

Desert trails in the Negev
The Negev (meaning "south" in Hebrew) offers beautiful landscapes of rocks, canyons, craters , even waterfalls and interesting archeological and geological sites.
Summers are very hot and dry during daytime and cold at night.
Best seasons for cycling are autumn, spring and winter (average annual rain of 25mm during winter only).

Jerusalem hills
Forests, springs, mountains (rising up to appx 800 m) and adventurous down hills and if you wish, you can always stop by historical sites and learn about the Israeli war of independence.
Winters are cold (not too cold for cycling), summers are hot but not humid (but one can always have a nice refreshing dip in one of the springs in the area .

Plaines and sea shore
Along the Mediterranean Sea and inland , the Plaines offer easy non challenging cycling trails. Ideal trails for families and children.
To avoid humid summer days, it is best cycling times are early mornings and afternoons

Galilee and Golan Heights
Forests, springs and rivers, mountains (up to 1200 m) and of course adveturous down hills. During our long summer , we , Groopys usually combine hard long and tiring cycling rides with dips in one of the rivers in the area .
Words can not express the sensation of the cool refreshing water.
Winters can be a bit muddy and cold but with 550 mm annual rains winter can offer more shiny nice days than rainy ones. Hot summers are a wonderful excuse to have a refreshing swim bread in one of the rivers .

Urban night rides
also we have a custom of urban night rides , each week a big group is making a long night urban ride crossing few cities , riding , drinking coffee and enjoing the good weather and company.
